I don't like playing homebrew Dungeons and Dragons games because I often find holes and exploits in them that often make the game stale or down right unplayable, but there are a few exceptions. I love, and I mean LOVE, playing the homebrew Slimefolk race. I currently play a Slimefolk character right now in a campaign being held by my Dungeons and Dragons club. The reason why I love playing Slimefolk is because it is much more balanced than a lot of things homebrew brings to the table. It manages to add something new to the game that is fun and engaging without completely overthrowing it, let me show you what I'm talking about.
The race gives you the ability to fit through small spaces, about an inch in diameter. It also gives the ability to morph and grow in size. This seems very overpowered right? Well, the race has it's down sides as well. When playing this race you become weak to water, taking damage in it every turn. The same thing happens when exposed to extreme heat. You become weak to a lot of attacks and spells which directly counteracts the power of the other abilities. Of course the race isn't fully balanced and is still powerful compared to a lot of the mainstream races but it is still very playable compared to a lot of other races from the homebrew scene. This is why the race is so popular across the community because it does what a good race does.
Yes I know there are other variations of this race like the Oozekin, Half-Ooze, and Slimeling but this race is the most popular race by far compared to these races because I see it being talked about the most, but if you want to play these races go right ahead because for the most part they follow the same reasoning as shown above.
Anyways, if you want to play this race for yourself, and trust me you really should, then click the link to the race and all of its abilities, features, and overall character sheet stuff here. Anyways have fun playing this race because I sure am and have fun rolling dice.
